Firelite tanks are factory-engineered, bolted steel storage tanks for fire protection water reserves, custom-built to each project's required volume and site conditions. Each tank is manufactured from panels fabricated to precise specification in a controlled factory environment, then bolted together and assembled on site - a construction method that allows large capacities to be built quickly without on-site welding.
Capacity and Sizing Tanks are available in a wide range of diameter and height combinations, from small back-up reserves of around 9 m3 up to large single-tank capacities exceeding 2,500 m3. Every tank is engineered to the specific diameter, height, wind load and snow load conditions of its installation site.
Standards and Approvals Firelite fire water storage tanks are designed, manufactured and certified to EN 12845, the European standard for automatic sprinkler systems and their water supplies. Tanks are FM Approved and CE marked, and manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
Coating and Liner Options The tank shell can be finished in a range of corrosion protection systems to suit the site environment and budget: • Hot-dip galvanized steel • Powder coating • Epoxy coating • Glass-fused-to-steel (vitreous enamel) • Stainless steel
For additional protection, or for tank refurbishment on existing steel or concrete structures, a flexible PVC membrane liner is available - a durable barrier between the water and the tank wall that inhibits corrosion, with an expected service life of 25+ years.
Automation Firelite tanks can be equipped with an automatic water level controller, which monitors the stored volume and activates the fire pump's make-up supply automatically when the level drops, then de-energises it once the tank refills - together with a float-and-tape liquid level indicator for visual/local reading. In cold climates, an automatic 3 kW immersion heater (two independent 1.5 kW elements) keeps the water above freezing, switching on automatically once the temperature drops to a set point, without needing to lower the water level to service it.
Installation and Accessories Every tank includes the connections and access components required for a working fire water reserve: flanged inlet, outlet, overflow and drain connections, a suction anti-vortex plate to control turbulence at the fire pump suction line, a sidewall or roof manway for access and inspection, and external ladders, platforms and roof walkways in hot-dip galvanized steel, aluminium, stainless steel or composite material. Installation is carried out with full project management, engineering supervision and, where required, repair and refurbishment of existing tanks.
