The consequences of a vehicle fire are destructive - not only to life and the environment, but also through breaches of industry standards and regulations. Public transport fleet operators continue to suffer mechanical and electrical failures that lead to fires, particularly in engine bays and across transmissions. A risk-based, scalable fire suppression solution is essential for fleet safety and uptime.
APPLICATIONS AND RISK AREAS: • Engine compartment - various high-risk components • Transmissions - critical to the vehicle, spreads fire quickly • Electrical systems - can spread fire quickly • Battery enclosure - critical to the vehicle • Heating / AC systems - increases the threat of fire
HOW THE REACTON SYSTEM WORKS: Reacton's indirect system uses a pneumatic detection tube installed around the engine bay fire risks. When the tube is compromised by fire it triggers rapid deployment of an effective ABC dry powder 'knock-down' agent, distributed through a discharge network and bespoke nozzles designed around the agent's characteristics. The system provides 24/7 protection with zero false alarms and can be connected to external monitoring/sounder panels.
ADVANTAGES OF A REACTON SYSTEM: • Fully automatic - detects and activates without any external power source • Rapid detection and immediate agent delivery, typically in under 10 seconds • 24/7 protection with zero false alarms • Extremely low maintenance • 10-year service life, 3-year warranty on all parts • Compact and lightweight, simple to install • Suitable for both new-build (OEM) and retrofit installations
APPROVALS: • P-Mark to SPCR 183 - fire suppression systems in bus and coach engine compartments; Reacton achieved the highest possible score, 10/10 (A+) • UL Listed - detection tube as a Heat-Automatic Fire Detector component (S36434) • Compliant to UNECE Regulation No. 107
