Fires in ground support equipment are extremely high risk with devastating consequences. Ground support equipment serves critical airport logistics functions, and any disruption has an immediate operational impact. Engine compartments are vulnerable in any vehicle, and this risk increases when the vehicle serves a vital role while still posing a serious threat to life. Tugs, baggage tugs, de-icing machines, ground power units and buses can all be destroyed by fire, and the fire can spread to surrounding equipment and aircraft.

APPLICATIONS AND RISK AREAS: • Pushback tractors - situated underneath the cockpit, posing a threat to the aircraft • Baggage tugs - complex hydraulics that can spray flammable hydraulic fluid • Buses - build-up of dust and debris raises engine fire risk • Container loaders - complex hydraulic systems, a fire hazard • Cargo tractors - engine compartment is the highest-risk area, with turbos and hydraulics

HOW THE REACTON SYSTEM WORKS: Reacton's UL-approved pneumatic detection tube bursts on contact with fire, activating the system. Dry powder and wet chemical agents are released through discharge hoses and nozzles to combat the fire rapidly and effectively, ensuring reignition is prevented. BC Dry Powder contains no ammonium phosphate and is ideally suited to Class B & C fires typical of airside applications.

ADVANTAGES OF A REACTON SYSTEM: • Fully automatic - detects and activates without any external power source • Rapid detection and immediate agent delivery, typically in under 10 seconds • 24/7 protection with zero false alarms • Extremely low maintenance • 10-year service life, 3-year warranty on all parts • Compact and lightweight, simple to install • Suitable for both new-build (OEM) and retrofit installations

APPROVALS: • UL Listed - detection tube as a Heat-Automatic Fire Detector component (S36434) • P-Mark to SPCR 199 - fire suppression systems in engine compartments of heavy vehicles
